U-Label by Scantrust is the association-backed self-serve option for wine and spirits e-labels (CEEV / spiritsEUROPE collaboration). Teams move to EUlabel when they need programmatic creation at scale, white-label or partner integration, or the same infrastructure for later Digital Product Passport obligations.

At a glance [#at-a-glance]

* **Keep**: GTIN, ingredients, nutrition, allergens, and multilingual consumer content.
* **Change**: hosting and resolution to EUlabel’s API, dashboard, and GS1-conformant resolver.
* **Watch**: subscription expiry behaviour on the source platform — export before labels deactivate.

How they compare [#how-they-compare]

| Dimension | U-Label | EUlabel |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Model | Self-serve portal, association distribution | API-first infrastructure + dashboard |
| Strength | Sector credibility, industry reach | Programmatic create, GS1 Digital Link resolver, partner embed |
| Typical buyer | Wineries and groups wanting a known brand | Vendors, cooperatives, multi-SKU producers |
| Beyond wine | Spirits and agri-food templates | Wine available; battery and textile in preview |

Pricing and plan limits change over time. Compare current public pricing on each vendor’s site; do not treat this table as a price quote.

Why teams switch [#why-teams-switch]

* Hundreds of SKUs or vintages need labels created from ERP/PIM, not hand entry.
* A wine ERP, PIM, or label printer wants e-labels inside its own product.
* The same QR infrastructure should extend toward ESPR / DPP later.

Migration steps [#migration-steps]

Export from U-Label [#export-from-u-label]

Export or download your e-label data (CSV/spreadsheet or API if available): GTIN, product name, ingredients, nutrition per 100 mL, allergens, origin, alcohol by volume, and any recycling disclosures.
Validate identifiers [#validate-identifiers]

Normalize and check every GTIN before create. See [GTIN validation](https://eulabel.eu/docs/knowledge-base/guides/gtin-validation).
Create in EUlabel [#create-in-eulabel]

Use the [wine e-label guide](https://eulabel.eu/docs/knowledge-base/guides/wine-e-label) or [PIM integration](https://eulabel.eu/docs/knowledge-base/guides/pim-integration) pattern. Prefer API or batch script for large catalogs; map fields to the passport schema.
Cut over QR codes [#cut-over-qr-codes]

Generate GS1 Digital Link QR codes from EUlabel (or point your existing Digital Link resolver at EUlabel destinations). Coordinate print reprints with stock turnover if physical codes cannot change immediately.
